Trafalgar Night Dinner

An evening steeped in maritime tradition, commemorating Lord Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. RNA Japan invites all members to our annual black tie dinner, where we honour that triumph in style and fellowship.

The evening brings together those who appreciate both history and tradition, in an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared respect for our naval heritage. The tradition lives on aboard every Royal Navy ship throughout October, and members have the chance to be part of it here in Japan.

Whenever the fleet is in port

Ship Visits

When Royal Navy vessels visit Japan, members have the opportunity to board and tour these working warships, seeing the pride and professionalism of the modern Royal Navy at first hand.

We cannot guarantee that every member will get aboard — these are operational military vessels — but we work to include as many as possible. Beyond the tours we arrange informal gatherings with visiting crews in bars and venues across Tokyo and Yokohama, for relaxed conversation and the sharing of stories.

These encounters build genuine connections between our Japan-based community and serving personnel, continuing the tradition of naval hospitality while offering visiting crews the benefit of our collective knowledge of Japan.

Each winter · With the St Andrew Society

Burns Night

A celebration of Scottish heritage and culture held in partnership with the St Andrew Society of Yokohama and Tokyo — an evening that has drawn considerable acclaim over recent years.

Held at a fine venue in the heart of Tokyo, the evening features a three-course menu with the haggis ceremonially piped in, accompanied by poetry recitations and traditional Scottish dancing that continues well into the night. With bagpipes, good Scotch whisky and an atmosphere of celebration, it is one of the most anticipated gatherings of our year.

Places are limited and the event is popular, so early booking is essential.

Remembrance

Every year RNA Japan joins Commonwealth nations worldwide in paying respects to the fallen of all wars and conflicts, past and present.

All members and friends are warmly invited to this solemn annual ceremony, held at Hodogaya Commonwealth War Cemetery in Yokohama around 11 November. Refreshments follow the ceremony, giving attendees the chance to connect and reflect together.
